Join us for an exciting evening of music by Shostakovich, Esmail, Montgomery and Puts that explores the nature of belonging through music!

We are really excited to present this eclectic program of music that explores national and cultural traditions and musical belonging. Shostakovich’s 1st string quartet was written relatively later in his life after the chaotic reception of some of his earlier more dramatic works and marks a return to a simpler, “spring-like” time. Reena Esmail’s “This is It” is a exploration of the connections between Indian and Western traditions, while “Strum” by Jessie Montgomery draws on American popular music traditions. We’ll close with the monumental “Home” by Kevin Puts, which is inspired by the turbulence of the refugee experience and the nostalgia for belonging.

Regular admission is $30, but we don’t want ticket prices to be a barrier for anyone to attend our performances, so you may also choose the option to pay an amount that is comfortable for you. Conversely, if you love our mission and have the means to value our performance with a higher ticket contribution, your support is greatly appreciated.

Students are free! And, tickets always include a complimentary glass of wine for 21+ audience members.
