A GRAMMY® Award-winning alto saxophonist, Garrett’s illustrious career includes stints with Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra. His new album blends jazz with R&B, gospel, and global influences, reflecting his Detroit roots and paying homage to musical legends like John Coltrane, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye. Garrett explains, “The concept was about the spirit from my ancestors, sounds that lift your spirit.” Tracks like ‘It’s Time to Come Home’ and ‘Hargrove’ showcase his virtuosic saxophone, while ‘Soldiers of the Fields’ honors jazz pioneers.
