We’re thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Dance Party featuring the West Philadelphia Orchestra, carrying on a long-standing Philadelphia tradition of New Year’s Eve shows with everyone’s favorite avant folk village brass party band! PLUS: We’ll have Karaoke throughout the night w/ one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic hosts, Dr. Thunder!

A Philadelphia institution, the premier avante village folk brass party band continues their longstanding tradition of bringing in the New Year with their non-stop, high energy blend of Balkan dance beats, Klezmer, New Orleans brass, hip-hop, soul, frevo and ska! For their second Black Squirrel NYE apperance, they’ll curate a full evening of entertainment with Karaoke throughout the evening, hosted by the incredible Dr. Thunder throughout the evening and to close the night after we bring in the the New Year in the best way; with a blast of brass! You won’t want to miss this rollicking good time with Philadelphia’s most distinctive party band– a perfect match for the fantastical vibes of the city’s most distinctive venue. Come sing and dance the night away to the driving percussion, yawping tuba, wailing reeds and blaring trumpets! WPO’s sound hits hard and lifts the spirits!Finding inspiration in the Romani brass “orkestars” and “fanfares” of Eastern Europe, WPO began as a village band for their neighborhood in 2006, performing at parks, rocking street festivals and collaborating with community theaters. Known for stellar musicianship and dynamic live shows, the band’s sound is vibrant, powerful and extremely danceable. They have performed at various festivals, including Ollin Kan (Mexico City), Philadelphia Folk Festival, Golden Fest (NYC), and various versions of the Honk! festival and collaborated with artists and ensembles as varied as RJD2, Dr. Dog, Martha Graham Cracker, Johnny Showcase and the Trisha Brown Dance Company.
