In the state of Michoacán, several towns celebrate the Day of the Dead with very unique traditions and customs. In Quiroga, families decorate the graves of their loved ones with marigolds, copal, candles, and the dishes they enjoyed in life. Meanwhile, in Santa Fe de la Laguna, altars are erected in honor of the deceased, traditional food is prepared, and visits to cemeteries are made.

In Tzurumútaro, a town near Pátzcuaro, the commemoration of the dead focuses on agricultural work. Graves are decorated with pumpkins, corn plants, seasonal flowers, and candles that illuminate the cemetery.

On Pacanda Island, the Day of the Dead celebration has a special character. You can see monumental arches, offerings, candles, and traditional food. What stands out on this island is that the offerings and celebrations are not only held in cemeteries, but also in homes, where family altars are set up that tourists can visit freely.

Finally, in Tzintzuntán, the Day of the Dead celebration is a vibrant experience. Offerings, arches, vigils, and ball games with fire are prepared. Altars are placed in homes and cemeteries, decorated with marigolds, candles, images, and food.
