Teotitlán del Valle is a town full of colors, recognized for its rich Zapotec cultural heritage. In a workshop they will show us how their magical hands make various products with wool, pedal loom, natural dyes and how they mix Zapotec and Mixtec designs with works by contemporary painters. We will visit a workshop where they will participate in the process of making handmade beeswax candles, an important element in the community’s traditions.
At the Palenque Mal de Amor in Santiago Matatlán, we will tour aboard a barrel-shaped cart through the maguey roads of Santiago Matatlán, rituals with mezcal in a maguey plantation, visit a pulquería with tasting of pulque, aguamiel and tepache.
Tour of the mezcal agave garden, explanation and participation in the production process of artisanal and packaging mezcal, guided tour of the mezcal maturation in glass, resting and aging of the mezcal in barrels, tasting of a wide variety of mezcals artisanal.
Tasting of various artisanal mezcals (young, reposado, abocado, añejo, blends, wild, distilled with, matured with). We will guide you on how to taste a mezcal, categories, diversity of agaves, classes, Denomination of origin, processes and organoleptic characteristics of mezcals.
