PRICE:
Begin your adventure in the heart of Oaxaca City. Ride along a cyclist path that connects the city with Santa Maria del Tule village. Detour into a fun mountain bike single track through the countryside for about 40 minutes until you reach Santa Maria del Tule Village, home to the Tule tree, one of the oldest trees in the world.
Explore the town and learn about the Tule tree, its history, and its importance. Then, continue your ride to the village of Santo Domingo Tomaltepec. Ride along another mountain bike trail that was once part of a network of natural paths connecting mountain villages like Las Neverias with Oaxaca City.
Enjoy incredible landscapes of Oaxaca’s Central Valleys with views of the city and its surroundings. After 1 hour of a combination of fun descents, flat sections, and 3 good climbs with a total positive elevation of 350 meters in 25 miles, reach the final destination at the end of this path, where the “Tree of the Monkey” is located.
Rest for 15 minutes, listening to bird sounds and observing donkeys and other animals and plants from the region. After this break, begin your return to Oaxaca City, stopping at an incredible water reservoir with a little forest that will give you the feeling of being in an oasis. Enjoy snacks to recover some energy and have a well-deserved rest.
With energy recovered and already rested, return by the same trail with a constant descent almost all the way until you reach Santa Maria del Tule. Visit an artisanal bread maker to see how locals make one of the most popular breads in Oaxaca and have the opportunity to eat it directly from the oven, freshly cooked by wood and fire.
