Your transfer driver will be waiting for you at the quayside to meet you as you disembark. An hour and half drive through rural Zululand brings you to Nyalazi Gate where our guide will be waiting. Once all the formalities are done and you’re on board our open safari vehicle it’s time to start your safari into the flagship 96000ha (960km²) “Big 5” Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park.

Not to give too much away here as our expert local guide will be sharing all the interesting facts about the park with you and answering all your questions as you traverse the wilderness areas of the park in search of the magnificent wildlife that roams free here. Not just home to the “Big 5” Elephant, rhino, lion, leopard & buffalo but to so many other really incredible animals, birds and plants!

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is the oldest park in Africa and boasts a rich and diverse cultural and natural history. Once the royal hunting grounds of Zulu King Shaka, it is also the park credited with saving the white rhino from certain extinction through “Operation Rhino” which started in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park remains the epicentre of rhino conservation in the world. What’s more is that every single white rhino in the world today has its genetic roots in this majestic game reserve.

The rest I leave in the hands of Sifiso Dube, your very experienced local guide as he excites you with tales of the bush, wildlife experiences and encounters that go hand in hand for us who are privileged enough to work in and live in Zululand…it’s more that just a game reserve, for us Zululanders, it is a way of life. We sincerely hope that when you leave here, you forever carry the sights, sounds, smells with you forever and wherever you may go.

At the end of your experience through this wildlife wonderland, you’ll exit again at Nyalazi Gate where your transfer driver will be waiting to take you back to you cuise liner in Richards Bay Small Craft Harbour!
