Begin your journey with a drive through the heartland of Zululand, passing through communities where many of the lodge, restaurant, and guesthouse staff live.

With a trusted supply partner, Bushbaby Safaris Zululand has developed a walking tour through one of these communities which has its start point directly on the road to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park from Hluhluwe.

Enjoy a tour that is done totally at random so that the community will never know when exactly a group may pass through. This is done so that you see and experience people going about their day-to-day lives as naturally as possible.

Visit the local primary school as well as the “Sangoma” purely to be sure there will be someone to receive you when you arrive. The other two stops at the community Shembe Temple and local “Spaza” shop are completely unannounced and the residents you encounter along the way have no idea anyone is visiting at any particular time.

Add some interesting extras to your visit if you wish, including the local youth Zulu dance group, a traditional “Shisanyama” (BBQ) for lunch, and perhaps even integrate a 3-hour open vehicle safari to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi before or after your community visit.
