Sahra Halgan est une artiste iconique du Somaliland, pays indépendant depuis 1991, mais non reconnu par la communauté internationale. En exil, elle a créé un groupe qui nous revient ici avec leur troisième album, Hiddo Dhawr («préserve la culture»), en référence au lieu que Sahra Halgan a construit dans sa ville natale Hargeisa, consacré à la musique et la poésie. Ce troisième disque place plus que jamais une musique séculaire au cœur d’une modernité hors normes, hors modes et hors âges. Poésies traditionnelles du fond des siècles, chansons de fête et de danse, chansons d’amour, revendications politiques, autant de terrains où la voix de Sahra Halgan déploie toute sa chaleur. Alliance inédite entre chanson somalienne et rock des origines, l’album Hiddo Dhawr ajoute son inspiration dans les paysages les plus inattendus de la scène mondiale. C’est dans le contexte de la guerre en réaction à la terrible répression du dictateur de la Somalie voisine, Mohamed Siad Barré, que Sahra reçoit son surnom de «Halgan», la combattante, et que ses chansons gagnent à jamais le cœur de tout un peuple.
