Discover with us unique half-timbered houses that have long since disappeared, medieval marketplaces, and an ancient battlement that is still preserved and hidden. We’ll follow in the footsteps of wealthy patrician families and hard-working butchers. We’ll find out where the Brunswick executioner lived and what connection he had to the “oldest trade” in the world. Our walk starts at the historic Bäckerklint. Then you’ll learn what the “Flohwinkel” is all about.
Passing the venerable Martino-Katharineum grammar school with its famous students, you’ll head over the medieval old town market and the historic egg market to the Jakob-Kemenate. From there, it’s not far to Knochenhauerstraße.
After a short stop, we’ll continue to the picturesque Michaelisviertel, which has its own exciting stories to tell. The tour ends with the medieval battlement, which tells its own story in a hidden way.
