Erfurt with a difference: immerse yourself in the mysterious corridors and discover the walls of Petersberg Fortress on a very special guided tour.

PRICE: $19
per person

Petersberg Citadel is one of the largest and best-preserved of its kind in Europe and covers an area of around 12 hectares. It has an irregular, star-shaped layout. Let us take you back to the time around 1060, when the Benedictines first settled here. The Johann and Franz bastions offer sweeping views over the city to the north and east respectively. From the Kilian and Martin bastions, you can look southwards, sideways towards the egapark.

After a detour into the past and present history of the fortress, you can experience Erfurt in a completely different way: dive into the city’s underworld and discover the mysterious corridors of Petersberg Fortress, high above the cathedral square, on a very special guided tour. Who knows, perhaps you will come across traces of Napoleon, who was also active here, in the light of the sparklers. Like a spotlight, the no lights wander over the old walls and perhaps discover some highlights that remain hidden during the day.

The flashlights are provided on loan as part of the tour. They can be purchased before the tour at the visitor center at a reduced price of €3.50 (instead of €4.95) on presentation of the tour ticket. It is also possible to use your own flashlights.
