Daniel Hillard es un actor que, a pesar del desempleo, mantiene intacto un corazón de oro que lo lleva a hacer lo inimaginable en nombre del amor que tiene por sus hijos. Tras perder la custodia en el proceso de divorcio, crea un pecuilar alter ego: el de una dulce niñera escocesa, la Sra. Doubtfire. Se trata de un intento desesperado por permanecer a su lado, sin imaginar que las mejores lecciones de paternidad están por llegar sobre un par de tacones.
