Holding the Line: Ethics, Boundaries, & Best Practices for High-Acuity Adolescents
Date & Time
Friday, March 27, 2026 1:00 PM – 4:15 PM (Mountain Standard Time) Live on Zoom
Event Description
Working with high-acuity adolescents—those experiencing chronic suicidality, treatment-interfering behaviors, trauma, or system escalation—can test even the most seasoned clinician. How do we stay grounded in evidence-based care while holding the ethical line when boundaries are challenged?

This 3-hour training provides mental health professionals with essential tools to navigate complex ethical decisions, maintain strong therapeutic boundaries, and apply evidence-based approaches with high-risk adolescent clients.

Through case examples, decision-making frameworks, and practical boundary strategies, attendees will gain confidence managing some of the most ethically and clinically challenging scenarios in adolescent therapy.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Apply ethical decision-making models when working with high-acuity youth
Set and maintain clinical boundaries with adolescents and caregivers
Modify evidence-based interventions (e.g., DBT, CAMS) to fit high-acuity presentations
Improve clinical documentation to support ethical and legal protection

This training is designed for licensed mental health professionals, including CMHCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, psychologists, and pre-licensed clinicians, who provide assessment and treatment to adolescents. The content is particularly relevant for clinicians working with high-acuity youth presenting with suicidality, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, trauma histories, and complex family systems across outpatient, school-based, and higher levels of care.
