When you arrive at Akumal Bay, the “Land of Turtles,” our team will welcome you and equip you with high-quality snorkeling gear and a mandatory life jacket, ensuring your safety and comfort. Before you hit the water, your certified guide will give you a crucial briefing on conservation and respect for marine life, getting you ready for an up-close encounter. Next, you’ll dive into the warm, crystal-clear waters, where you’ll experience the thrill of silently floating on the seagrass beds. Here, you’ll observe majestic green sea turtles grazing in their natural habitat, admiring up close the grace of their movements and their impressive size, feeling part of a vibrant ecosystem. We strongly suggest you book your activity between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During these intervals, the number of visitors is lower, which guarantees optimal underwater visibility, a more serene encounter with the fauna, and a much quieter and more personal experience.
Remember, you’re in their home: you can’t touch, feed, or chase the turtles. Always keep a safe distance and follow your guide’s instructions at all times.
