Join a a Ph.D. ecologist on a guided birding hike through pristine spruce-fir forest and learn about subalpine ecology while looking for wildlife like Pine Marten, Snowshoe Hare, Red Squirrel, Clark’s Nutcracker, Canada Jay, Brown-capped Rosy Finch, and Pine Grosbeak. Although less than two miles round trip, this moderately challenging hike at high elevation will get your heart pounding and senses thriving. Once at the lake and glacier, enjoy a hot drink with views of the surrounding mountains. Finally, head to the historic town of Idaho Springs where you will have lunch followed by a soak in the therapeutic waters of the Indian Hot Springs. Can you think of a more perfect Colorado day?
