A journey through Caen’s history, exploring its vital connection to water. Always an essential resource as well as a major challenge, water has shaped the city, its uses, and its development.

PRICE: $35
per person

What’s a “crétine”? Why is the Saint-Jean church leaning? What did the people of Caen fish for? Where can you park your boat in the city center?

Our visit will start with the meadow, a vast expanse that has remained wild due to its frequent floods, and is now a treasure trove of biodiversity.
During our stroll, we’ll rediscover the city center, which we’ll compare with old engravings and paintings of the “Norman Venice.” We’ll walk along the port and its quays to remind ourselves of the port’s essential role in the city’s development.
We’ll end up on the peninsula, where the city’s imagined future clashes with the realities of climate change
