Embark on a half-day tour from Denver to explore the historic mining towns of Central City and Black Hawk. Trace the steps of the 1859 Colorado Pikes Peak or Bust gold rush while traveling up a rugged canyon.

Meet your guide at Union Station in Denver and set off for the mountains. Pass through the rugged Clear Creek Canyon and see the remnants of the gold and silver mining towns of Idaho Springs, Georgetown, and Silver Plume.

Arrive in Central City, a historic mining town that was once known as the “richest square mile on earth.” Explore the town’s historic buildings and learn about the town’s history as a hub for gold and silver mining.

Continue to Black Hawk, a former mining town that is now a popular gambling destination. See the town’s historic buildings and learn about its history.

Head to a local gold mine and learn about past and current mining techniques. Try your luck at panning for gold and keep any gold you find.

After your visit to the mine, return to Union Station in Denver.
