The intimate nature-based music, arts, skill sharing & art making festival Glowing Fest will have their inaugural festival on May 8th through 11th at Woodlands Nature Reserve in Charleston, SC. The event was created to help support and uplift communities that were impacted by Hurricane Helene and features many Musicians, Bands, Visual Artists, Healers and Workshop Facilitators from Western North Carolina that were impacted, devastated and woven into the experience. Much of the proceeds from ticket purchases will go directly to supporting artists and people that were impacted from the Hurricane, including a number of whom lost their homes, art studios, work or businesses.
The dreams of organizer Ryan Oslance (Gator in the Atmosphere) are to bring people together to co-create a beautiful experience to strengthen community and broaden all of our connections and allow us to process and heal from this earth shattering event. It is life giving for artists to have a meaningful space and audience to share their work with and be seen, and with Glowing Fest we aim to facilitate the merging of worlds – introducing musicians, visual artists, creatives and community from different regions of WNC, Mexico, West Coast, South Carolina, New York and beyond. Glowing Fest is a container for people to meet and form new connections and collaborations.
We hope you come with an open heart and mind, ready to participate and engage fully with this experience through workshops, nature walks, art making – taking every moment in and holding space. We invite you all to be with us in an inspiring place spending time in nature with gorgeous trees, lakes, trails, swamps and open fields under the nearly full moon with fireflies. We encourage attendees to camp, settle in, relax, steep in nature and art together and have time to really drop in with each other. Please be respectful to the sensitivity of the impacted people after such an event and be actively illustrating care, awareness and consideration of your fellow Glowers. This will not be a wild party scene and we do not want people to over consume and lose themselves. We will be celebrating how far we have made it and how much resilience and strength we have but also taking time to pay reverence for the gravity of what we all went through with processing and grief. Bring everything you will need to survive and thrive and leave no trace – pack in and pack out everything you bring. Some food and beverage vending will be available, but please prepare water and food supplies as there are currently no potable water systems in place. Portable Toilets will be on site. If you bring a camp shower, it can be filled from the lakes. We strive to keep the camping peaceful and restful, so please no Bluetooth speakers or sound sources like your phone or a boombox. There will be plenty of beautiful sounds for your ears and intentional space between. Thank you so dearly from the bottom of our hearts for your support!
