Second Tuesdays at Artichoke Music

Topic #2: Inside the Boys’ Club • Doors 6:30, 7-9, FREE Sponsored by Artichoke Community Music

Hosted by Renée Muzquiz with Special Guest Rachel Brashear

What happens when you’re the only gender minority on stage, in the classroom, or in the studio? How can we create a welcoming and supportive enviroment for women and gender expansive music workers to succeed?

From booking and finding work to gigging and managing mental health, etc., women and gender expansive (GE) music professionals experience shared barriers to success and are still wildly underrepresented in the industry. We deserve a collaborative, peer-designated space where we can feel safe and supported as we navigate our careers. Let’s challenge the systems that work against our success and reimagine more sustainable, equitable business models for us in music.

Musician/Music Policy Council member Renée Muzquiz will host a brief live video podcast interview with women and GE music advocates about topics affecting us in the industry. This will be followed by an open discussion where we’ll brainstorm and share resources around that topic. Afterwards, grab a drink to support Artichoke, network and catch up with friends you don’t get to see while we’re all working.
