Raj Bhakta was the founder of Whistlepig Distillery back in 2008. He sold it in 2018, and in 2019, he and Leo Gibson founded BHAKTA Spirits and subsequently procured a collection of spirits, including whiskeys and brandies, dating back to 1868 and every year through 2023.

BHAKTA 1962 Armagnac

One of our darkest-hued Armagnacs, BHAKTA 1962 shows roasted meat, caramel, and cigar box on the nose, followed by a vibrant palate of orange peel, banana, honey, and dark chocolate. In 1962, Bob Dylan released his first album, Taco Bell was founded, and John Glenn made history as the first American to orbit the Earth; the Cuban Missile Crisis made time stand still, but infamy was averted.

BHAKTA 1982 Armagnac

One of the world’s rarest Armagnac vintages. BHAKTA 1982 — produced primarily from the grape Ugni Blanc — shows cigar box, old books, and teak wood on the nose, followed by an explosive palate of candied chestnut, toffee, and Sichuan pepper. In history, 1982 was defined by the invention of ciabatta bread, the beginning of the Falklands War, and the release of the Commodore 64 personal computer; China became the first country to surpass a population of one billion.

Bhakta 2011 Bourbon

BHAKTA 2011 Bourbon is a bold 111 proof whiskey aged 12 years and 10 months including a 12-month finish in Château BHAKTA’s finest Armagnac casks. This limited release of just 11 barrels celebrates our legacy of No. 1 awards, including “#1 Spirit, 99 points” and “Best Bourbon.” “That’s you, that’s me, that’s the winner, the champion, the top dog, the number one in us all. BHAKTA has won more No. 1 awards than just about anyone over the past few years, most especially No. 1 Spirit in the World.” Deep golden-orange in hue, this bourbon offers aromas of vanilla fudge, caramel, and smoky oak, leading to a palate of dark brown sugar, burnt caramel, and a hint of lemon zest on the finish.
