You’re invited to an afternoon of bal folk dancing to live music!
Teacher Mary Wesley will lead the event, infusing joy in every step. Hailing from Vermont and Québec, Triton will offer music rooted in the traditional dance repertoire of Northwestern Europe.
Bal folk is the magical revival of popular social dances from Western Europe, with an emphasis on traditional “folk” dances from France. Bourrées, an dros, gavottes, mazurkas, waltzes, scottishes—a mix of partner dances, group dances, entrancing chain dances… All these fun dances are easy to learn with no need to bring a partner or have prior experience.
We’ll show you how! Be sure to come on time to attend the lesson at 2 p.m. You’ll learn the basics for the social dancing, which will be hosted from 3 – 5 p.m.
