About the Band

Based in Denver, Colorado, Slay & Stinson are a dynamic, melody-driven band rooted in bluegrass and Americana traditions. Their sound blends heartfelt originals, imaginative storytelling, and inventive interpretations of traditional and contemporary tunes. Drawing inspiration from both real-life and fantastical experiences, they deliver rich harmonies and compelling performances that resonate with audiences across Colorado and beyond.

Finalists in the prestigious 2023 Telluride Bluegrass Contest, Slay & Stinson have quickly made a name for themselves with a style that honors the roots of bluegrass while forging something entirely their own.

Meet the Members

Travis Stinson- Vocals / GuitarOriginally from Nashville, TN, Travis brings decades of bluegrass experience, including performances at Bonnaroo, the Grand Ole Opry, and on Late Show with David Letterman. A CU Boulder alum and longtime Colorado resident, he also performs with Big Hooray Bluegrass and remains a driving creative force behind Slay & Stinson’s sound.

Scott Slay- Vocals / GuitarA seasoned singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Scott’s distinctive vocal tone and award-winning songwriting elevate every performance. He’s a former member of Scott Slay & The Rail and has shared the stage with artists like Sierra Hull, Scott Vestal, and Sammy Shelor. He holds a B.A. in Music Education and Jazz Performance.

Nick Einterz- Vocals / BanjoA versatile banjoist and songwriter from Southern Indiana, Nick fuses smooth technique with deep emotional expression. His musical range spans from blues to classical, and his storytelling songwriting weaves American folklore into the band’s repertoire.

Brett Kretzer- MandolinWith roots in Western Maryland and influences from Appalachian old-time music to heavy metal, Brett brings both rhythmic precision and soulful melody. A founding member of The Plate Scrapers, he’s performed at major festivals like DelFest and shared stages with bluegrass greats including The Seldom Scene and Larry Keel.

Andy Reiner- FiddleAn award-winning fiddler and Berklee College of Music graduate, Andy’s style blends global influences with imaginative rhythmic flair. His music appears in The Queen’s Gambit and Godless on Netflix, and his wide-ranging collaborations span from Celtic-electronica to hip-hop fusion.

Chuck Rourke- BassHailing from Detroit, Chuck’s musical journey spans funk, jazz, horns, and now bluegrass. A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, his deep rhythmic groove and joyful presence bring heart and soul to the band’s foundation. His passion for American roots music is deeply woven into his playing.
