Special Guest Speaker — Maria Cade is a MultiMedia Journalist at First Alert 6. She is also the Alert Desk Anchor for Daybreak. She joined the First Alert 6 news team in July 2024 after working at WTAJ News in Central Pennsylvania, where she covered all things Penn State/Centre County as the State College reporter. Originally from New Castle, Pa., Maria is excited to make Omaha her home. She is Miss Omaha 2026 and now serves as an ambassador for the Omaha Metro. Maria will compete for Miss Nebraska in June.

Maria is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studied at the prestigious Hussman School of Journalism and Media. Go Heels! After graduating from UNC, she moved to New York City to work with ABC News as an intern for the third hour of Good Morning America. There, she elevated community news to the national level, sharing stories highlighting people making a difference in their area daily.

In addition to journalism, Maria has a passion for performing. She also studied vocal performance at UNC and has performed in dozens of musicals, plays, and operas. In her spare time, Maria enjoys volunteering her time with the Miss America Opportunity and other organizations focused on women’s empowerment and scholarship.
