The Association Cocktail Classes at The Association – Los Angeles, CA

CLASS BY ASSOCIATION offers cocktail enthusiasts an opportunity to delve deeper and refine their knowledge of cocktails. Classes explore bar basics, tools and techniques as well as individual spirits, their history and use in classic and contemporary cocktails.

The Association hosts the one-hour class every Fridays & Saturdays from 8pm-9pm.

All classes are $45 per person and include:

• 1-hour PRIVATE cocktail class

• Tasting of 3-4 craft cocktails

• Social Hours 9-10:30pm with special cocktail pricing

For optimized enjoyment, we limit classes to 25 seats.

Registration is required for participation. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable for different dates.

DECEMBER

FRIDAY 12/5: WHISKEY COCKTAILS We will explore the extensive world of whiskey cocktails. These cocktails come from all over the world and are exclusively from grain spirits. We will trace back to the origin of how this liquor came to be and how it is being used in modern drinks to this very day.

SATURDAY 12/6: FALL COCKTAILS When the weather starts to cool down these drinks will comfort anyone on a cold day. This class will show the students how to use flavors that match the time of year and make cocktails that will impress everyone at the holiday party. Spiced Syrups, Pumpkin, and hot drinks are just some of the ideas shared, so join us and we’ll stay warm with some great drinks.

FRIDAY 12/12: TEQUILA You’ve been drinking the wrong tequila, let us show you the way. Here we discuss the different aging processes and flavor profiles that makes this spirit one of the most popular in the world… and for good reason.

SATURDAY 12/13: SMOKE This class will have us using smoke in our drinks! There are more than a couple ways to use smoke in your cocktails and attendees will get a chance to taste/learn about them all!

FRIDAY 12/19: FIRE Our most popular class, here we will show you the secrets of our famous old fashioned on fire, as well as other techniques to impress all your friends at your next party.

SATURDAY: 12/20: COCKTAILS ACROSS AMERICA This class will take us from New Orleans, to New York to California and everywhere in between. Come taste the history of the US’s expansive cocktail culture.

FRIDAY 12/26: RUM Arguably the most diverse spirit in the world, here we will explore all the different types of rum around the world, and their use in the vastly different cocktails that benefit and bloom from their every spice and nuance.

SATURDAY 12/27: SPARKLING DRINKS (NYE EDITION) Who doesn’t love a good mimosa? But, there’s a lot more to sparkling wine cocktails, and you’re going to thank us later. Brunch game = elevated.

JANUARY

FRIDAY 1/2: TIKI The origins of these “Island” style cocktails may surprise you. Come for the fresh flavors, stay for the rum… lots and lots of rum.

SATURDAY1/3: GIN Gin is one of the most versatile spirits for cocktails. Here we will showcase the different types and flavor profiles and how to use them to your advantage.

FRIDAY 1/9: NEW YORK CRAFT Cocktails based off of the 2006 movement created by Sasha Petraske in New York. These are the drinks that started it all, modern craft and mixology owes to the “&” bars of New York. We go over Milk & Honey, Death & Co, PDT, and The Dead Rabbit drinks, key figures, ideas and more.

FRIDAY 1/23: COCKTAIL ACROSS THE WORLD Think of it like a really cool foreign exchange program. Here we explore some of the national cocktails and local libations from countries around the world.

SATURDAY 1/24: MEZCAL A look at our neighbor to the south and their amazing, artisanal, magical spirit of Mezcal (the origins of tequila), and all it’s different varietals.

FRIDAY 1/30: DESSERT COCKTAILS If you have a sweet tooth and love to drink your sugars this class is for you. We will look into some old school, new and original after dinner drinks. (Dairy warning)

SATURDAY 1/31: BOURBON We will explore the extensive world of bourbon cocktails — indisputably our favorite spirit at The Association.. and you’ll find out why during this class!
