When two lovers—one older, one younger—come together to push past the boundaries of their taboo relationship, the lines between fact and fiction become more and more blurred as buried traumas are unexpectedly unearthed and old wounds rise to the surface. This new play explores the fragility of connection and the redemptive power of confronting one’s past in order to face the truth.

Written by Emily Adler, face makes its debut at the historic HB Studio in New York City’s West Village. The production is directed by Tony Award–winning actor Frank Wood and brought to life by a collaborative team of actors and designers, including Eve Bianco and Juan José Mojica.

Presented by Basement Theatrics, face is an intimate workshop production that invites audiences into a charged emotional terrain where desire, memory, and self-deception collide. This early staging offers a close encounter with the play’s psychological and emotional complexity as the work continues to evolve.

Seating for this workshop production is extremely limited and takes place in the third-floor studio at 122 Bank Street. Please reserve a ticket only if you are certain you can attend.
