Four master improvisers present an evening of magical spontaneity, where jazz, folk, and global traditions merge in the moment.

Featuring: Iva Bittová (voice, violin), Steve Gorn (bansuri flute, clarinet), Timothy Hill (voice, guitar), Michael Bisio (acoustic bass) and Antonín Fajt (piano)

Chimera is born from trust and curiosity—a gathering where nothing is planned and everything unfolds in the moment. No scores, no strategy, no boundaries. The music writes itself as it’s played, shaped by conversation and deep listening.

Each artist brings a lifetime of exploration:

  • Iva Bittová, the Czech avant-garde icon, channels folk, jazz, and opera into a singular voice rooted in emotion and spontaneity.
  • Steve Gorn, a master of the bansuri flute, bridges Indian classical music and global improvisation with an unmistakable serenity of sound.
  • Timothy Hill transforms voice and guitar into instruments of resonance, weaving overtone singing and poetic stillness into his performances.
  • Michael Bisio, one of the most imaginative bassists in contemporary jazz, grounds the ensemble with raw physicality and lyrical depth.
  • Antonin Fajt’s music combines elements of folkloric traditions of Eastern Europe, jazz and classical composition.

Individually, they’ve shared stages with luminaries from Paul Simon to Pauline Oliveros, from Fred Frith to Bang on a Can All-Stars. Together, as Chimera, they leave all that behind—meeting in real time to create music that transcends genre and invites listeners into a space of discovery, beauty, and joy.
