Steel City Square Dance at Brew House Arts – Pittsburgh, PA

In celebration of our current exhibition, Our Appalachia, Brew House Arts partners with Steel City Squares and invites you to join us in the gallery for an evening of square dancing, celebration, and art. Our Appalachia will be on view in the gallery, attendees are invited to participate in a potluck and bring a dish to share with one another. Beginners are welcome, come and dance or just stop by to hang out and see the exhibition.

Tickets available on a sliding scale from $0-$20. Attendees are encouraged to sign up in advance. Additional tickets available at the door.

Steel City Squares is an inclusive community that organizes traditional Appalachian square dances in Pittsburgh, PA. All of our dances feature live music and callers and no partner or previous dance experience is necessary. Come dance with us!

Based in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest in Elkins, West Virginia, the Solar Ant Arts Collective is gaining recognition as a model for creating change in their communities. Members join from across the region working in a variety of mediums from professional artists to hobbyists. In Our Appalachia, curated by Griffin Nordstrom, eleven artists from the collective are highlighted to negotiate various themes in their work including environmental issues, identity, placemaking, and what it means to be Appalachian.

Our Appalachia is curated by Griffin Nordstrom and features artists include Kelly (Kiki) Alba, Aira Loren Burkhart, Corrina Bloom Burkhart, Rosalie Haizlett, Serafelle E. Hightower, Sarah Miller-Herrera, Wilhelmina McWhorter, Emily Prentice, Kathryn Prentice, Domenica Queen, and Nevada Tribble.

Our Appalachia will be on view from November 20, 2025 to January 17, 2026.
