He began in Kansas City and went on to a long tenure with the Delta Queen Steamboat Company as a bandleader and entertainment director, while also performing at venues including Walt Disney World and Harrahs Casino New Orleans. Now based in New Orleans, he tours internationally, leads his New Orleans All-Starsoften featuring Wendell Bruniousand stars in his acclaimed one-man show, Becoming Jelly Roll.Wendell Brunious is a celebrated New Orleans trumpeter, composer, and educator whose lyrical phrasing and warm tone embody the elegance of the citys traditional jazz lineage. The son of legendary trumpeter John Brunious, he carried the family legacy forward as a longtime member and former leader of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Over the course of his career, Brunious has performed and recorded with artists including Wynton Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, Danny Barker, and Dr. John, remaining a vital ambassador of New Orleans jazz around the world.Doors: 4 pmShow: 4:30 – 6pmSnug Harbor Jazz Bistro presents live weekly concerts. There is NO SMOKING allowed anywhere inside the building, and there are NO PETS ALLOWED at anytime. *Legitimate Service Dogs must be wearing full credentials at all times upon entry, and owner must have licensing papers available upon staff request for service dogs.
