Born in 1951, Isaacs rose to prominence in the 1970s, pioneering the lovers rock subgenre with hits like Night Nurse, My Only Lover, and Love Is Overdue. His signature crooning style and deep, emotional storytelling made him a global reggae sensation, influencing generations of artists.

Beyond love songs, Isaacs also voiced social struggles in tracks like Slave Master and Border, reflecting the hardships of his time.
