Annie Mack is a soulful singer and unflinching songwriter who writes from the gut and demands your attention. Raised in North Minneapolis and currently living in Rochester, MN, Annie Mack grew up in the 80s, influenced by the rich Twin Cities music scene. Inspired by her mother’s love of music, she started singing, performing at local joints. Although never intending it to be a career, it quickly became one.
Artistically this work will examine relatable themes that directly impact so many in our community: death, love, grief, queerness, healing, activism, and critical hope in the midst of devastating times. “Wolves of Impermanence” is meant to elevate a relevant perspective and honor lived experience and legacy in a time when the human experience feels exceptionally fragile.
Mack shares, “When thinking about the purpose of music and why I choose to make music, I want this album to leave listeners with a comfort and connection to impermanence that respects the mystery of life, while removing the stigma of death. Rooting difficult experiences in melody offers the community a potential conversation about what’s possible when moving beyond the expected. It’s also meaningful and immensely crucial to create new music that intersects a variety of genres beyond the standard traditions of what each genre affords independently.”
This event is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
