DJ Cecil’s music has delighted listeners and warmed up dance floors all over the world. Notably talented as a musician, recording engineer and producer, Cecil’s deep love for music stems from a childhood soundtrack of old jazz and gospel records, an adolescence inspired by hip hop’s golden era, and the fine tunings of studying classical piano.

However, his arrival to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 90’s would set the stage for something much greater; a path that would soon position him as an integral part of a burgeoning and beautiful soulful house music and dance scene. His passion for music is contagious; as he cleverly fuses house with the beautiful nuances of jazz, soul, hip hop and deep world rhythms. The result is a refreshing and colorful dance floor experience, that keeps the body at attention and the heart tenderly in tune.

Pulling from the influential rather than the derivative commercial end of the record crate, DJ Cecil continues to be guided by his genuine love of music.

@djfloridawtr is a DJ, musician, visual creator, and cultural organizer based in Oakland. With roots in percussion and Afro-diasporic drumming from his upbringing in Florida, global rhythms shape the foundation of his sets. His sound moves between deep house, soulful textures, and percussive energy, grounded in a deep relationship to rhythm and lineage.

He is the founder of Nectar Social Club, a now-closed but deeply impactful space that served as a home for QTBIPOC community in Oakland. Nectar lives on through the people, the memories, and the cultural imprint it left behind. It stands as one chapter in a broader practice of building spaces where people can gather, express, and feel held.

His work now extends across community spaces, collaborations, and cultural projects that center organizing through music and shared experience. Whether behind the decks or shaping a room, his focus stays consistent: creating environments where people can connect across difference and move together with intention.

Deeply rooted in house music, @djfloridawtr approaches sound as a form of ceremony. His sets are not just about selection, but about feeling, pacing, and collective energy. For him, the dance floor is a place where people can arrive as they are, find each other, and tap into something larger than themselves.
