Having formed in 1985, Galahad have been constant stalwarts of the UK and international ‘Prog’ scene. Over the years they have played hundreds of shows all over the UK, Europe and America releasing twelve studio albums, three rarity albums and numerous live albums/DVD’s/EPs along the way as well as releasing albums by offshoot projects the Galahad Electric Company and the Galahad Acoustic Quintet.
In 1991 the band won the BBC Radio One Rock War competition on Tommy Vance’s legendary ‘Friday Rock Show’ with the highest number of votes ever by any band which culminated in a rather special recording session at the famous BBC Maida Vale Studios which was broadcast on the Friday Rock show along with an interview with Tommy Vance himself.

In 2007 the band’s album ‘Empires Never Last’ was voted album of the year by the members of the ‘Classic Rock Society’. More recently the band were nominated in the ‘Best UK band’ category for the 2018 Progressive Music Awards, ultimately losing out to Steven Wilson, unsurprisingly!

In 2013 the band published their official biography ‘One for the Record’ (updated in 2018) accompanied by a DVD anthology containing rare footage of various performances over the years.

The band have never been ones to rest on their laurels and have been constantly evolving over the years soaking up a number of different musical influences, always looking forwards but still maintaining nods to their ‘Progressive’ past.
Early 2018 saw the release of the critically acclaimed full on prog/rock album ‘Seas of Change’ which, in true ‘Prog’ tradition, contains just one long form piece of music which was performed in its (almost) entirety at all their live shows in 2018/2019.

Also, in 2018 a fully updated second edition of the official band biography ‘One for the Record’ was published.
Throughout 2019 and during the ‘Covid years’ the band were busy writing, rehearsing (when possible!) and recording new material which formed the basis of their next two studio albums ‘The Last Great Adventurer and ‘The Long Goodbye’ which were released in 2022 and 2023 respectively to much critical acclaim.

Off shoot project the Galahad Electric Company, featuring Dean and Stu, also wrote and released two albums in this period ‘When the Battle is Over’ (2020) and ‘Soul Therapy’ (2022) showing a more electronic and, oddly, folkish side to their music.

In 2023 Galahad played their first UK live shows since Covid emergency followed by a few shows in the UK and in Europe in 2024 for the first time in five years!
The band also released a live album on 3rd September 2025 called ‘Alive at Loreley’ which was dedicated to bass player Neil Pepper who’s final show (he was suffering from oesophageal cancer) was this performance at Loreley on 3rd Sept 2010 and which was finally released exactly 15 years to the day in 2025. Sadly, Neil passed away almost exactly a year later in September 2011.

Also, in 2025 the band played several special extended shows in the UK and Europe to celebrate their 40th anniversary and will, hopefully, be playing a few more in 2026!!
