We are just buzzing with excitement! MCAEL’s Spelling Bee is back for its 11th year!

Join MCAEL staff, board, programs, community leaders, local businesses, and your Montgomery County neighbors for a fun, lively event to support English language programs in our community.

Release your inner geek and cheer on teams as they compete in the Grown-Up Spelling Bee! The champion team for 2025 was Burness. Will they t-r-i-u-m-p-h or will another team buzz away with the victory?

What’s the Buzz all about?

There are over 144,000 adults in Montgomery County who self-identify as speaking English “less than very well.” Learning English is about much more than language – it’s about dignity, safety, and belonging. And learning English doesn’t just benefit individuals. It has a multiplying effect – improving the lives of families, the local economy, and our shared community.
