Leur nom rend hommage aux guerrières africaines et au groupe Les Amazones de Guinée, formation emblématique des années 60. Depuis, le projet s’est enrichi de nombreuses voix venues de tout le continent africain et de sa diaspora.Leur musique puise dans un large éventail d’influences, mêlant musiques traditionnelles panafricaines, pop, électro, hip-hop et trap.
