Community Guidelines
.
When attending Bloom we ask that you conduct yourself in alignment with our Community Code of Conduct:
.
1. Protective Spaces – Building a safer environment at Bloom
Everyone who attends Bloom is expected to uphold an environment of consent and respect for one another. We strive to make Bloom a safer and inclusive space for all guests and expect all crew, performers and patrons to adhere to this standard. Any hate speech, aggressive, or non-consensual behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone who acts disrespectfully will be asked to leave.
Take care of each other. If you experience or see someone that needs help or a situation that looks questionable or uncomfortable please bring it to our attention: reach out to the event security staff, Bloom crew, or any of the event organizers. Bloom encourages everyone to take responsibility for the environment we are co-creating. Be aware of and respect each other’s personal space. If someone says no or asks you to leave them alone, listen to them and accept their “no” with grace.
Remember: Respect yourself, each other, and the land.
.
2. Sustainability and Leave No Trace
Respect bloomland and leave it as beautiful as you found it. We are visitors on this land and ask that all attendees are mindful of the waste they may be bringing into bloom and to be responsible for their impact. Leave wasteful packaging at home.
– Pack in what you pack out.
– Double check your campsite for any waste before you leave.
– Do not leave used toilet paper in the forest – we will need to pick it all up! Instead carry a ziplock bag with you for your garbage and place it in the appropriate receptacle.
– If you are a smoker, make sure you have a receptacle for your butts on you at all times.
– Help our Eco Warriors out! If you see any MOOP (Matter Out Of Place), Please pick it up and place it in the appropriate receptacle.
.
3. Celebration with Intention and Action
Bloom encourages attendees to review and understand our core roots, found on our website [https://bloomfestival.online/bloom-roots]. We have the privilege to gather and celebrate on these lands and we ask that you consider ways in which you can support your local community in being more equitable.
We encourage our community to reflect on actionable items that we can all do to create an equitable world. What can you offer?
.
4. Play
Bloom encourages you to engage your inner child to play and have FUN – After all what is a festival but a playground for your senses!
Interact with art that invites you to do so, dance like no one’s watching, Express your inner self through your outfit and style! Have FUN with it!
Remember: Be kind, be cool, love yourself, and read the room -always respect the boundaries of others and be aware of the space you take up. Respect each other, yourself and the land.
.
5. No Portable Sound
To respect both the neighbours of the land, and your camp mates, and to enjoy the peace and quiet of the land – portable sound at loud volumes heard from afar will not be permitted.
.

.
Camping:
This is a camping gathering. There are many great places to set up camp on the land. Please see the map provided when you arrive for great camping locations. Come prepared for all weather conditions – Extra tarps and warm clothes are recommended! (And bug spray!) The land is large! Come prepared to carry in your gear and pack everything back out when you leave.
.
Toilets:
Portapotties will be available for use during the weekend and will be clearly marked on the map. They are found by the parking lot and behind Main Stage. Remember to leave them cleaner than you found them!
.
Showers:
There are beauty nature showers onsite
Once at the festival, you will be able to buy a shower pass. Shower passes allow you to have a timed shower, as we are trying to reduce water waste. 50 percent of proceeds collected from showers will be donated to a local charity organization of our choice. They will be open limited hours so be sure to check the hours upon arrival at front gate!
.
Tips! Due to water constraints on the land and the desire to conserve as much water as possible we ask that you wash yourself with efficiency! Steps to help save water:
Step 1: Get a little wet
Step 2: (with the water off) ) Soap up! Get those suds baby! Biodegradable soap only!
Step 3: Rinse it out
We have installed push levers on the left hand side of the shower to help conserve water resources. Please don’t keep the water running
 BYO SANDALS & TOWEL
USE BIO-SOAP ONLY PLEASE
.
Food:
Bring your own food and snacks for the weekend! There will also be food available for purchase from vendors – bring cash!
.
Parking and Carpooling:
In an effort to encourage carpooling as parking space is limited on the land, we are asking all cars to show a parking pass upon arrival. These will be available for purchase when buying tickets. After you check in, you will be directed by our parking crew to find your parking spot.
.
PARKING PASSES:
BLOOMER: (Parked for Full Weekend – No Ins and Outs) : $25 + HST
BEES: (Ins & Outs during Gate Hours only): $35 + HST
RV: $55 + HST (Limited)
.
If you are looking for a ride, please post in the event or update our ride share spreadsheet :(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P30GqFwJpvyFk3ygCq7GJd7Fi8DhSzlbiDmpFd38vXc/edit?usp=sharing.) and hopefully others with space may be able to help you out.
***Please plan accordingly and drive safe, rested and sober!
.
Drinking Water:
While on the land you have access to safe and fresh drinking water by the airplane hangar near the parking lot. Please bring water jugs and bottles to be filled with water from the land. We recommend you bring a stash of extra drinking water for your campsite just in case.
.
Fires:
If the conditions allow, there will be a communal fire pit for everyone to enjoy. Personal campfires are not permitted.
.
Dogs and other animals:
We ask that you please leave your dogs and other pets at home.
.
Children:
Children 12 and under are welcome to attend, as long as they have a designated guardian with them at all times (Please ensure you have purchased a child ticket for them). This includes overnight, while they are sleeping in case they wake up. If your child is found unattended and this becomes a problem we may ask you and your child to leave.
.
. Covid Precautions:
For the safety and health of our whole community please stay home if you are exhibiting any signs or symptoms of a cold or flu. In the ever changing pandemic climate, we pledge to ensure the safety of all attendees by following current government recommendations.
.

.
We will be gathering on the traditional lands of Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsio, Mississagua and the Haudenosaunee people; governed under Treaty 20, 1818, land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples from the very beginning. Today, this area is still the home to many Indigenous peoples, and we acknowledge all the generations of people who have stewarded this land and recognize the great privilege of being able to gather here.
We share this Land Acknowledgement in part to humbly express our acknowledgement, privilege and gratitude to the First Nations; and to call ourselves into activation for justice for Aboriginal people on Turtle Island. For those who are settlers, what can we all do? Activate for justice. Initiate conversations amongst ourselves and others about Indigenous issues. Call out the continued genocide of Indigenous people on Turtle Island, take action in our communities. Hold governments accountable to their promises regarding the struggles that communities face at the hands of settler colonialism. Read the Truth and Reconciliation Final Report — consider how we can support the calls to action. Locate and support local Friendship Centres, and Indigenous Organizations and grassroot projects. Speak up; bring this conversation and activation to other community events you/we’re a part of; volunteer/show up; participate in the redistribution of resources and reparations by way of donations. Even a small amount of any of the above is something.
.
As organizers of this gathering, we are committed to:
1) Having copies of TRC reports to be loaned/read at the gathering.
2) Initiate conversations and collective activation
3) Having conversations on the land with one another
4) Treading lightly on this land with humility – respecting the animals, plants, and all of our surroundings by leaving no trace.
.

.
This experience is what we all make it, so if you plan on coming we encourage you to share and contribute to our collective experience. We are all responsible for creating a safe and fun weekend together.
We are so excited for you to join us for Bloom and can’t wait to see you! If you have any questions please refer to our FAQ https://bloomfestival.online/faq
