Jamie says, “I wrote the song in April this year with Ben and Charlie, having only met them that day. I told them I felt a change happening within me and had the title in my head. I felt for the first time that I was starting to feel comfortable in my own skin and let some things go that I had let hold me back for a long time. The song is about accepting yourself and whatever perceived flaws you think or may have been told you have. I’ve Learned they’re only real if you let them be, and we’re all beautifully unique in our own way.”

Hailing from Redcar on Teesside, Jamie was drawn to music by the big voices and supreme conviction of Motown; that passion was soon flavoured by UK influences, such as Arctic Monkeys and Paolo Nutini. He always wanted to perform, but shied away from the stage until one day he suddenly quit his job to follow his ambitions.
After countless pub gigs, he was invited to compete on ‘The Voice’ but didn’t make it through the audition. Showing the defiance that has become a hallmark of his career, he returned the following year and has never looked back. He earned the support of Olly Murs and Tom Jones – ultimately making the top eight of the live show – launched a solo career, and was soon amassing 100,000 streams a day.

His debut UK headline tours followed in 2023 and 2025, which underlined his determination to become a global star who could follow Ed Sheeran and Teddy Swims to the top. More recently, Jamie has just completed his debut sold-out tour of the Netherlands. Now, it’s only a matter of time until Jamie Grey is promoted to pop’s premier league.
