The “Frankfurt 1891” experience at Senseum Frankfurt takes visitors back to the year 1891. Here, they can explore the roots of this commercial metropolis, represented by the merchant Theodor Riedel, and learn how Frankfurt developed into the city it is today. To do so, guests first visit Mr. Riedel’s colonial goods store and then learn about the history of Frankfurt in his study. Sitting in replica carriages, the virtual journey finally takes them through old Frankfurt to the 1891 International Electrotechnical Exhibition. Here, the time travelers witness the first three-phase current transmission from Lauffen to Frankfurt. A historic event!
