What Is Via Ferrata?
“Via Ferrata” means “iron way” in Italian. Originally developed during WWI to help troops cross steep mountain terrain, Via Ferratas have since become popular alpine routes for recreational climbing, especially in Europe. Jackson Hole brings this iconic experience to the Tetons with 15 unique routes that vary in difficulty, offering something for everyone—from first-timers to seasoned climbers.
