If conditions allow, paddle to Maple Island, a quiet place with a haunting past. In the early 1800s, a group of fur traders transporting prisoners to Montreal found themselves caught in a sudden storm. Their canoe was no match for the power of Lake Superior, and their journey came to a tragic end on the island’s rocky shores. The full story, like the island itself, waits to be discovered.
