Guided tour about the origin and use of the historic rock passages over the past 700 years
Over many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg dug vaults and corridors into the bright colored sandstone under their city. The extensive rock cellar system was first mentioned in a document in 1380. For many years, the cellars were mainly used for the maturation and storage of beer – especially the red Nuremberg city beer.
Today, the Altstadthof brewery uses a small part of the branched, labyrinthine cellar system again for the maturation and storage of special beers and beer spirits.
As part of the tours, you’ll of course visit the brewery and the whiskey distillery. You can then sample the specialties, especially the original Nuremberg red beer, in the tasting boutique, in the brewery, in the restaurant, or in the brewery’s cellar tavern. Come by, it’s worth it!
