Meet at the shop and get fitted for bikes. Then, take a 30-minute drive into the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland. Start at a stunning overlook of the gorge, getting on your bike and riding along the Historic Columbia River Highway to other viewpoints and points of interest.
Bike along gentle, curving, scenic up and downhills to reach your favorite waterfall hikes. After this, ride another two to three miles (3 – 5 km) to another viewpoint of the Columbia Gorge. Some guides will take the option of a longer cycling experience, with guest agreement. No matter which route, this tour visits some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state.
Like no other active tour of the gorge, hear stories that are just beginning to awaken from this place. Beyond the 180 years of pioneers and loggers, before the century-old highway, this was the land of people with a rich mythology. Hear the stories that have been told to us by the indigenous people as best we can. But what’s most important, remember the long history this place holds.
