Foulkes, the mansion was a modern marvel of its time, featuring thermostat-controlled central heating, indirect electric lighting, and a central vacuum system.

Explore the mansion’s 23 rooms, including a library, music room, Turkish smoking room, sewing room, five large bedrooms, and two sleeping porches. Admire the curved wooden floors in the round and oval rooms, a testament to the artistic vision of its architect.

Learn about the Pittock family, one of Portland’s most influential families, and their role in the city’s transformation from “stumptown” to a modern, industrial city. Discover the pioneer spirit that drove Henry Pittock to create an architecturally impressive house with the latest technology.
