Saona Island Day for Marella Discovery (La Romana Port) – Higuey, Dominican Republic
Enjoy a small-group Saona day built for Marella Discovery guests: speedboat, Mano Juan & turtle nursery, Canto de la Playa snorkel, natural pool stop, lunch & drinks—timed for your ship.
PRICE: $115
per person
Make the most of your La Romana call with a Saona day crafted for Marella Discovery passengers. Travel in a small group by speedy 7-meter boat, keep to a cruise-friendly schedule, and see Saona’s classics without the crowds.
Meet your driver at the cruise-port taxi kiosk and transfer to Bayahibe, where your guide welcomes you aboard. Skim along the coast past the Peñon cliff while your guide shares local stories, then glide by the mangroves—an essential nursery for marine life.
Step ashore at Mano Juan village to experience island life at an easy pace: colorful homes, small shops, and the community-run turtle nursery (hatchlings are seasonal and never guaranteed). It’s a warm, authentic window onto Saona beyond the beach.
Break for a tasty Dominican lunch with drinks included, then continue to Canto de la Playa—famed for clear water and excellent snorkeling. Unwind on the sand or slip on a mask and explore the shallows.
On the way back, stop at the natural pool to wade in turquoise water and spot starfish (look, don’t touch). Return to Bayahibe, meet your driver, and arrive back at La Romana port around 18:00—well in time for the 20:00 sail-away.
This shore excursion keeps things simple: small group (max 30), dedicated guide, snorkeling gear provided, lunch and drinks included, and logistics built around your ship. In lobster season (Jul 1–Feb 29), you can add a lobster upgrade.
