Join me for a friendly walk in the heart of the historic center of Troyes, the city of ten churches, famous for its half-timbered houses and charming cobbled streets.
The starting point is in front of the Maison du Dauphin, one of Troyes’ iconic houses, recognizable by its leaning structure and medieval half-timbering. Easily accessible, it’s right next to a free parking lot, making it easy to get there.
We’ll start with a quick overview of the walk, then we’ll explore the 16 most iconic spots in the “Champagne cork,” the nickname given to old Troyes because of the unique shape of its downtown.
Along the way, we’ll stroll through cobbled alleys, admire beautiful half-timbered houses, and stop in front of Gothic churches, contemporary sculptures, hidden courtyards, and other iconic sites of Troyes’ heritage. At each stop, I’ll tell you the history of the place, share unusual anecdotes, local traditions, and above all… my best addresses.
I’m offering a friendly stroll, with a few historical anecdotes, but above all, full of local tips: must-see addresses, favorite spots of the Trojans, secret corners, and specialties not to be missed.
I’ll share my favorites with you: Where can you drink a good Aube champagne? Where can you taste a real andouillette or a pastry made by a Meilleur Ouvrier de France? Where can you have a cocktail in a place steeped in history?
The walk lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes (between 1 hour and 10 minutes and 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on the pace), and will end in a central square, opposite the Cité du Vitrail, a museum housed in a former episcopal palace. This will be a great opportunity to wrap up our time together and answer any questions you may have, or give you some tips for the rest of your stay.
This walk is Troyes as told by a local: a mix of heritage, fun, and authenticity.
A simple, warm, and accessible experience for everyone, without visiting the monuments’ interiors, but with a lot of passion and friendliness.
Discover Troyes through the eyes of a passionate local.
A friendly walk through alleys, buildings, and half-timbered houses.
Great tips, anecdotes, and local addresses you can’t miss during your stay.
