Sisteron is well known for its fortifications and citadel. But we’re less familiar with the beautiful views from the surrounding peaks! Let’s take a tour of the town from above!

On the program –
– Discover Mediterranean forest species around the Mollard botanical trail; collect/create an autumn herbarium (for children).
– Understand the mechanisms of Alpine and Mediterranean influence on vegetation – The history of water: the Durance and its diversion canals – A little geology: understand how a “clue” is formed, discover the astonishing folding of the Baume massif.

Supervision – Group hikes (max 15 people), supervised by a mountain leader based in Sisteron. He will provide you with technical information and introduce you to the local environment. The itinerary may be modified according to weather conditions or participants’ physical condition.

Level of difficulty – Level 2/5. 2h30 of effective walking, 7 km and 250m of positive ascent during the outing. This is a family-friendly walk for all, on well-marked paths only, with no steep gradients. Children are welcome; specific activities may be planned for them. Please let us know when you register.

Essential equipment – 1 comfortable rucksack (20-30L) for your belongings // mountain boots with crampons (no smooth sneakers) // 1 outfit suitable for walking (light, breathable clothing) // 1 water bottle (minimum 1L/person for the outing) // 1 cap or hat, sunglasses and sun cream // 1 technical waterproof windbreaker (Gore-tex type) or k-way // your medical treatment (if you have any).
Optional equipment – your telephone or camera, binoculars, hiking poles (if you’re used to walking with them!)

Price includes – Supervision by a mountain leader, a local snack (snack or aperitif depending on the schedule) to share.
Price does not include – Your transport to the starting point of the hike. Departure on foot from Sisteron Tourist Office.
