This beginner-friendly trip takes you off the beaten path and into one of the region’s most stunning canyons—offering a mix of adrenaline-pumping action and peaceful moments to connect with nature.
What is canyoning?
Canyoning (also known as canyoneering) is the sport of descending mountain streams and gorges using a combination of rappelling, sliding, scrambling, swimming, and cliff jumping. It’s an immersive way to experience the raw beauty of the West Coast while learning technical skills in a safe, supportive environment.
What to expect
Your day begins with a warm welcome from your certified professional guides at our base in Britannia Beach Village.
Meeting time is 8:30 AM – please check in 10 minutes early.
After a safety briefing and gear fitting, we’ll shuttle or carpool a short distance to the canyon entrance.
You’ll start with hands-on instruction in rappelling and canyon movement techniques before stepping into the water. From there, the adventure ramps up:
-Rappel down cascading waterfalls
-Scramble through sculpted granite corridors
-Slide natural chutes polished by centuries of flowing water
-(Optional) Leap into pristine pools of glacial runoff
Along the way, your guides will share stories about the area’s rich Indigenous history, industrial past, and unique coastal rainforest ecology.
We’ll pause midday for a relaxing picnic deep within the canyon—an unforgettable setting to recharge and reflect.
The canyon exit is typically around 4:00 PM, followed by a short hike out. After changing into dry clothes and a final debrief, most participants are on their way by 4:30–5:00 PM.
