We’re climbing the Trou de l’Argent from Sisteron: a vertigo-inducing hike with sublime views over the Durance and the Alps… with all the comfort and safety of being accompanied by a guide!

We climb to the Trou de l’Argent, overlooking the limestone massif of La Baume, and where there’s a limestone massif… there’s a cave! The Trou in question is a necessary passageway to the summit of the Baume mountain! An unmissable hike for the discerning public in the heart of the Haute Provence Geopark.

Program:
– Presentation of the UNESCO Haute-Provence Geopark and its amazing geology: a tormented geological history
– 1h30 climb to reach the foot of the Trou de l’Argent, where you climb a metal ladder to squeeze through a narrow entrance.
– Discover a small underground world, offering a few natural windows onto the outside world
– Hike along the ridge to admire the panoramic view of the Alps, before descending through the forests on the northern slopes of Montagne de la Baume.
– Aperitif offered at the top!

Difficulty: level 4/5. 4h to 4h30 effective walking time and 650m positive ascent over the course of the day – suitable for people in good physical condition. Steep ascent at a leisurely pace. Feeling of vertigo at the summit, but you’ll be safe and guided.

Supervision: Group hike (max. 10 people), supervised by a mountain leader. He will provide you with technical information and introduce you to the local environment. The itinerary may be modified according to weather conditions or participants’ physical condition.

Essential equipment: 1 comfortable rucksack (20-30L) for your belongings // mountain boots with crampons // 1 outfit suitable for walking (light, breathable clothing) // 1 water bottle (1L minimum/person) // 1 cap or hat, sunglasses and sun cream // 1 technical waterproof windbreaker (Gore-tex type) or k-way // your medical treatment (if you have any).

Optional equipment: telephone or camera, binoculars, hiking poles (if you’re used to walking with them!)
