Brush up on your Spanish while learning everything about Xochimilco. Enjoy a traditional breakfast at a restaurant in the main square, where you will get to know yourself, and review some vocabulary and useful phrases to use in the markets.
Then go through the markets looking for and buying the ingredients to prepare your lunch, traditional tacos called “tacos placeros”. From the markets, ride a bici taxi to the pier, where a trajinera (traditional colorful boat) will be waiting for you.
While enjoying the mesmerizing landscape and listening to the story of this UNESCO site, prepare Guacamole and Pico de gallo using traditional tools such as molcajete and template. During this 2-hour trip on the boat, stop at a Chinampa (the floating gardens) to learn about the traditional agricultural system and an Axolotl’s sanctuary.
By the end of this experience, you will have practiced your Spanish with other students as well as with native speakers interacting in real-life situations. You will also have prepared and enjoyed two traditional sauces and a traditional dish.
